Post Doctoral (Continued)

Expectations
Postdoctoral trainees will devote full-time effort in research-related endeavors. An initial set of goals for the first semester of the traineeship and objectives for the training period will be identified during the first 6 weeks of the traineeship. Trainees will identify their own objectives, and in consultation with a mentor will refine and articulate their objectives for their full traineeship period. Then, they mutually identify specific, feasible, and challenging goals for each semester. Progress toward their goals will be monitored on an ongoing basis. At the end of each semester, trainees will evaluate their activities and goals independently and then share this review with their mentors. Trainees’ goals and objectives will be revised as needed in keeping with the trainee’s program objectives.

Research activities for trainees will include: reviewing literature in the clinical problem of study or in the method of study, consulting with experts in the field, engaging in formal and informal educational experiences; designing, proposing, and obtaining feedback from T32 members on related pilot studies, conducting pilot studies, developing expertise in all aspects of proposal development and submission, and conducting and disseminating original research.
