Post-Doctoral Training in
Patient-Centered Informational Interventions
The NINR-funded training project supports doctoral trainees and
postdoctoral fellows. The training is directed by seven core faculty
members with participation of affiliate nursing faculty and support
faculty representing education, engineering, journalism and medicine.
The core training faculty apply diverse but complementary perspectives
and techniques to implement patient centered interventions. Fifteen
years of support by NIH and private foundations have supported their
research. The core faculty are:
Susan Heidrich,
RN, PhD
Karin Kirchhoff,
RN, PhD, FAAN
Dorothy Lanuza,
PhD, RN, CS, FAAN
Diane Lauver,
RN, PhD, FAAN
Pamela Pletsch, RN, PhD
Susan Riesch,
RN, DNSc, FAAN
Sandra Ward,
RN, PhD, FAAN
The postdoctoral program of study is individualized based on the
fellow's goals and includes independent study directed by a member
of the core faculty and augmented by collaboration with affiliate
and support faculty. Formal course work may be included. Postdoctoral
fellows receive an annual stipend depending on the number of years
with doctoral experience. Fellows are eligible for two years of
support.
Post-doctoral fellows are chosen on the basis of their research
career goals, the match of their research interests with those of
available sponsors, and their overall professional and academic
records. To apply for the training program, applicants should send
a letter of intent together with their curriculum vita. In the letter
please include a description of your research interests, indication
of which core faculty member might best fit with your research area,
and some thoughts on how your research interests relate to the goals
of the training program. Applicants should also send a doctoral
program final transcript, two writing samples, and names and addresses
of two persons who will provide references. Applicants should request
that letters of reference be sent to the address listed below. Applications
are considered on a rolling basis. Application materials should
be sent to:
