The Nurses Alumni Organization was founded in l927, shortly after the first class graduated from the School of Nursing. In an effort to keep in touch with alumni and to keep them informed of developments in the school, a pamphlet-like publication was started in l934, and continues to the present in the form of a newsletter. The NAO has always been concerned about the welfare of students, beginning with a loan fund in the early years. Now several scholarships and grants are awarded to students annually. The NAO also works to support the school and the student body in various other ways. The organization supports the nurturing of student nurses to professional nurses in all realms of the profession.
