Awards

Recipients of the following awards will be honored at the Alumni Day celebrations held each year in Madison.

Criteria for the Distinguished Achievement Award
The recipient of this award shall have achieved the following:

  • Contributed to nursing at local, state, or national levels
  • Demonstrated involvement in raising the quality of nursing care through scholarly pursuits, writing, education, or practice
  • Demonstrated involvement in nursing through teaching, administration, research, or clinical practice

Criteria for the Service Award
The recipient of this award shall have achieved the following:

  • Provided leadership and service within the community
  • Served the nursing profession through practice
  • Demonstrated creativity and foresight in seeking solutions to problems or in meeting community needs
  • Assumed an advocacy role in meeting human needs

Criteria for the Horizon Award
The recipient of this award shall have achieved the following:

  • Earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the UW-Madison within ten years prior to the nomination
  • Been active in his or her community
  • Developed or implemented a creative program or idea in the work setting (this can include special recognition for contributions to the community or health-related organizations)

Deadlines
The deadline for submission of a completed application and supporting materials is March 1 of each year.
