Would
you like to give a gift to support nursing?
Your
gift does make a difference. Every gift, whatever
its size or type, is needed and appreciated by
the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The way in
which you choose to give a gift is a matter of
personal preference, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison
Foundation offers several gift options for your
consideration. Careful planning can maximize the
positive effects of your gift.
Ways
to Give
OUTRIGHT
GIFTS - Outright contributions can be made
in several different ways, including:
- Cash
- Corporations
matching personal donations
- Securities
- Property
DEFERRED
GIFTS - Deferred gifts are those made in
the present and received in the future. These
include:
- A
bequest from the donor's will
- A
trust
- A
charitable remainder trust
- Pooled
income funds
- Using
retirement plan assets for charitable giving
- A
gift annuity
- Life
insurance policy
ENDOWMENTS - A
cornerstone of private giving throughout the
history of higher education, the endowment is
based on an initial gift of substantial size
that in turn provides annual income earnings
generated by investment of the principal. The
minimum amount needed to establish an endowment
is $10,000.
As
an endowed gift grows due to investment, it provides
annual spendable income. The endowment serves
not only as a dependable and predictable resource
to help meet new or recurring expenses, it also
is sustained in perpetuity. That is, a gift that
lasts virtually forever.
Alumni
and friends who choose to make endowment gifts
help to sustain the excellence of UW-Madison.
An endowment gift represents a significant investment
in the future, an investment that will allow
generations of students to achieve their goals
and their dreams.
