DESCRIPTION OF RESEARCH FOCUS:

My research interest is studying lung transplant candidates and their family’s perceptions of coping with end-stage respiratory diseases. I have always had a passion for exploring educational strategies that are sensitive to the uniqueness of each individual’s social-cultural and psychological contexts. I am interested in studying how patients and their families cope with their symptoms; how they understand their illness, and how do they organize significant distressing symptom events in their life in terms of stories to make meaning of these experiences. My overall goal is to develop patient-centered interventions to enhance coping strategies and symptom management for patients with chronic respiratory diseases to improve their quality of life.
