Description of Research Focus:

Dr. Nehls has two research foci: 1) women with severe and persistent mental illness and 2) nursing education. She is particularly interested in community-based care for women who have histories of trauma, mental health, and substance use problems, and innovative educational curriculum and instruction for undergraduate and graduate nursing students. Dr. Nehls uses an interpretive (hermeneutic) research approach.
