Description of Research Focus:

I am interested in promoting informed environmental health actions by supporting the development of evidence-based and user-centered information that can be provided within environmental public health systems.  I use the Common Sense Model of Self Regulation as an organizing framework to (1) explore the differential influence of environmental health information and perceived sensory-experiences, and (2) evaluate how informational interventions are related to beliefs, affect and actions.  Current work examines how concrete visual images, for example images of laboratory test results and groundwater maps, influence these outcomes.  My research has focused on water quality and safety information.
