Baumann Appointed Newest Member of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force

The University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Nursing congratulates Linda Ciofu Baumann, PhD, APRN BC, FAAN, professor emerita, on her appointment to the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF). The USPSTF is an independent, volunteer panel of sixteen experts in prevention and evidence-based medicine that makes recommendations about preventive services for primary care clinicians and patients.

Baumann will join fellow experts in prevention and evidence-based medicine from many health-related fields—including internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, behavioral health, obstetrics/gynecology, and nursing—to evaluate the benefits and harms of preventive services for specific groups of people. Task force recommendations have informed clinical standards for many professional societies, health organizations, and medical quality review groups.
