Wisconsin Badgers Spring Football Game Proceeds Will Go To UW-Madison School of Nursing
Madison, WI - The UW-Madison Department of Athletics has announced that proceeds from the 2011 Badger football spring game will go to the UW-Madison School of Nursing campaign to build a new School of Nursing building.
Tickets for the game will be $5 and will go towards the School of Nursing’s capital campaign.
The spring football game is scheduled for Saturday April 23, at Camp Randall Stadium. The game will give Badger fans an early look at returning players making up the 2011 football team. Wisconsin finished its 2010 season ranked 7th in the nation, according to the Associated Press college football poll.
"This is going to be a great opportunity for the School of Nursing for two reasons,” says School of Nursing Dean Katharyn May. "Ticket sales will benefit our campaign, and the event, as well as the publicity leading up to it, gives us a chance to tell a bit of our story to the wider community—to folks who love UW and football, but may not have heard much about UW nursing."
"UW–Madison nursing grads are obviously doing important work in health care throughout the world," says UW–Madison Athletic Director Barry Alvarez. "The athletic department is proud to offer its support to that mission."
The Badger spring football game debuted more than thirty-five years ago. Over the years, in order to gain attendance, it piggybacked on "Butch’s Bologna Bash," first held in 1974, and the "Crazylegs Run," but in 2001, it became a separate event. In recent years, the scrimmage has typically drawn around 15,000 fans.
