The School
The University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Nursing, established in 1924, is situated in the health sciences sector of campus with the School of Medicine and Public Health, School of Pharmacy, School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Administration Hospital, and the American Family Children's Hospital.
The School is currently ranked among the top 20 nursing schools in the United States in National Institutes of Health (NIH) research funding and by the quality of its graduate programs. It has an enrollment of more than 500 students; offering the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BS), Master of Science in Nursing (MS), and Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (PhD) degrees.
With more than $900 million in research expenditures in 2006, the University of Wisconsin–Madison is the second largest research university in the country. The campus includes 13 academic schools and colleges and enrolls more than 40,000 students annually. There are 226 centers and institutes recognized and approved within the university that serve to organize activities for groups of people who wish to collaborate.
