Submit above information by October 24th, 2008, to Sarah Kruger, H6/266 CSC or via email to stkruger@wisc.edu Winner will be notified by November 7th and presented with the $500 Scholarship at the Sigma Theta Tau/Beta Eta Chapter Induction on Sunday, November 9th. 2008. 2008 Graduate Research AwardThe 2008 Research Award was given to Feng Lin, a doctoral student at UW, for "A Feasibility Study of Patient Perceptions of Mild Cognitive Impairment". Her faculty sponsor is Professor Susan Heidrich. Feng Lin obtained her BSN from Jilin University in China, and entered the doctoral program at UW-Madison School of Nursing in 2006 with a focus on gerontological nursing. Her study is a descriptive pilot study of persons diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), a transitional stage prior to the development of true dementia, to assess their illness perceptions and emotional responses to the diagnosis. She is using interviews and exploring the feasibilitiy of using structured self-report scales to measure emotional responses and perceptions.
