Sigma Theta Tau is an international honor society aimed at improving health worldwide by enhancing nursing’s scientific base of practice. Considered the “Phi Beta Kappa” of nursing, it operates through the core principles of scholarship and leadership. The aim of Sigma Theta Tau is to develop, disseminate, and use knowledge to broaden nursing practice.

Sigma Theta Tau boasts more than a quarter of a million members with chapters in all 50 states and many foreign countries.

Beta Eta Chapter-at-Large
The Beta Eta Chapter-at-Large serves the Madison community and consists of students and professionals from the University of Wisconsin and Edgewood College. Currently, Beta-Eta boasts over 1600 active members. The vision and mission of the chapter is congruent with that of Sigma Theta Tau:

MISSION:
The mission of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International is to support the learning, knowledge and professional development of nurses committed to making a difference in health worldwide.

 

VISION:
The vision of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International is to create a global community of nurses who lead in using knowledge, scholarship, service and learning to improve the health of the world's people.
