Who may apply for a School of Nursing Undergraduate Scholarship?

Prospective Students who are in the process of applying for admission to the nursing major are eligible to compete with students already admitted (NUR, NWC, NCP and NRN classification with UW-Madison as the home institution). New and prospective pre-nursing students are eligible to compete for the Wisconsin Rural Opportunities Scholarship/Loan, and SoN minority scholarships. In order to receive School of Nursing Scholarships, students must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States.

If you are a registered nurse you may be eligible to apply for a Helen Denne Schulte (HDS) Scholarship.

HDS RN Program Completion Scholarships:  Available to students who hold a current RN (nursing registration) and who will enroll for at least 6 credits per semester in the baccalaureate degree completion program.  Complete the general undergraduate scholarship application.  Check the HDS RN box on page 3.

What is the Scholarship Application Criteria?

To apply, one should submit the application form and statement of academic and professional nursing goals. In addition, unless you are a continuing student in the nursing program, a letter of reference is required. Students who wish to have finacial need considered as part of their criteria must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

When and How to Apply for an Undergraduate Scholarship?

The Application process for all School of Nursing scholarships takes place once a year in the spring. The application deadline is March 1 for the following academic year. For students receiving finacial aid from UW, any scholarship awarded by the School of Nursing become a part of the total aid package.
