Progress
Minimum Grade Requirements
- Grades below C in required courses (or within any required
program specialty sequence) must be repeated with a grade of C
or better.
- *A grade of B or better is required in N601 in order to progress
into N613. A grade of B or better is required in N613; N614, N615;
an unsuccessful semester may be repeated only one time.
- An unsatisfactory grade in N719 (U) or N798 (U or below B) will
place the student on departmental probation.
Grade Point Average Requirements
- The student must maintain an overall
grade point average of at least 3.0 (4.0 scale). This average
must specifically be maintained in all nursing
courses.
- Nursing courses below 500 are not acceptable to meet program
requirements
- Courses outside the School of Nursing must meet the Graduate
School requirement of at least the 300 level.
- Independent clinical credits (N613, N614, N615, N719, N747,
N774) and independent research credits (N799, N798) are not
used in calculating the GPA.
- If the required GPA is not maintained, the student will be placed
on departmental probation.
- If the GPA is less than 2.0, the student will be dropped from
the program.
Requirements for Incompletes
- A grade of incomplete (I) must be removed by the end of the
next semester of residence. (The summer session is not considered.)
- If the incomplete is not removed, the student will be placed
on departmental probation.
Departmental Probation
- Failure to meet the specified criteria above will constitute
unsatisfactory progress in the program. The student will be placed
on probation for the following semester of residence.
- At the end of one the equivalent of a full time semester (8
credits), the student on probation not meeting satisfactory progress
criteria will be dropped from the program.
- Any student placed on departmental probation for a semester
must maintain satisfactory progress during the remainder of the
program or be dropped.
Procedures for Monitoring Satisfactory
Progress
- The Office of the Associate Dean for Academic Programs will
review students' records at the end of each semester and notify
the student and program advisor if the student is making unsatisfactory
progress or being placed on departmental probation.
- The Graduate Programs Committee will review the record of any
student who has not made satisfactory progress prior to the student
being dropped from the program.
*(N601 grade minimun applicable only to student progression into
their first nurse practitioner clinical.)
